Pilots,
Becoming a virtual pilot will require a strong passion for flight simulation, a desire to be part of a community, and some reading and comprehension. There are steps involved, and this post is to help get you started.
You will need to register an account on FSAirlines.net and apply to the TruNorth Air virtual airline. Please be patient, so that our administrators have time to approve your application. It can take up to 24 hours. Apologies for the wait!
Once you've been approved, you will start out as the rank of Trainee. Your first task as a virtual pilot is to earn a type rating in the Cessna 172, and you will already be assigned the training type rating allowing you to do your first training flight.
You can earn type ratings by scoring >90% on a training flight. You must successfully take off, fly >1 hr real time, and land using the FSAirlines tracker.
Cessna training flights will take place in PAHO Homer, Alaska. If you haven't already, you will need to move your virtual pilot to that location.
Use the following steps to move your virtual pilot...
1. Log into FSAirlines.net and click on Crew Center at the top of the page.
2. In the left column under Personal, click on Book Flight.
3. In the Options column on the right, click Buy Ticket.
4. Input PAHO as your ICAO-Code destination, and click Buy Ticket.
5. In the left column under Pilot, make sure your name is selected, and click Profile.
6. Your pilot's location should now be PAHO Homer, Alaska.
7. Be patient for our admins to approve your account. It can take up to 24 hours. Apologies for the wait!
8. In the meantime, download and install the FSAirlines flight tracker at FSAirlines.net.
NOTE : PAHO Homer, Alaska has a free MSFS addon scenery available at www.flightsim.to. Although not required, we highly recommend installing this addon scenery. It will provide you with a more realistic representation of this airport.
NOTE : For future reference, you can locate any aircraft by finding it in our fleets menu and noticing it's location in the column on the right.
Use the following steps to schedule your first training flight once your account has been approved...
1. Log into FSAirlines.net and click on Crew Center at the top of the page.
2. Follow the steps above to make sure your virtual pilot's location is PAHO Homer, Alaska.
3. In the left column under Personal, click on Book Flight.
4. Available Flights From Homer should display. Under it will be a training flight (in yellow) with Flightnr. T011000.
5. Look to the far right on that row and click the blue button with the white paper airplane icon.
6. Select the C172 aircraft with registration N1721TR and click continue. The flight will be booked, so click continue again.
7. You will now be presented with your Briefing document with information about your flight.
8. Launch your flight simulator, select the Cessna 172 aircraft, and start the aircraft at PAHO Homer, Alaska.
9. Start your FSAirlines flight tracker software. Login and click Flight Information.
10. Your flight information should be displayed in the flight tracker. Click the Fly button.
11. Use the flight tracker to set the fuel in your aircraft and click the Fuel Up button.
12. Click the Fly Button, and the flight tracker should begin tracking your flight.
If you've made it this far, great job!
The flight will end when you land and set your parking brake. Click the Next Button after reviewing your flight information and click Finish. Your flight will be logged into our virtual airline database, and you can access that information from your FSAirlines profile Logbook.
All future flights will be done like this. However, once you've been awarded a type rating, you can begin flying scheduled routes in that aircraft or start earning type ratings for more complex, faster, and larger aircraft. You will begin filling your logbook, earning virtual currency to buy your own personal aircraft to store in your virtual hangar, and earn rank as you become a better virtual pilot.
If you need assistance, consult the FSAirlines wiki or contact one of the Administrators on Discord or by sending them a message in the FSAirlines Crew Center (left column under Virtual Airline, Overview section, message button to the far right side of their name).
